Just a quick note to all our friends, clients, vendors and associates – Thank You. It’s been a great year thus far for us, and we couldn’t have done it with out all of your help. We sincerely appreciate all the support we’ve received and can’t thank you enough. We’re very excited for the upcoming year and look forward to growing not only our business, but our relationships with all of our connections.

Patrick Coyne & the history of CA

Being a designer, it’s safe to say I anxiously await the arrival of the next issue of Communication Arts. It’s a required piece of literature around our office. Recently I had the opportunity to attend an AIGA event to hear Patrick Coyne, the editor and designer of CA speak about the history of the magazine as well as insights into the future of the publication. Patrick was a very gracious and friendly guest who gave a great presentation. It was very inspiring to see the past issues and layouts of CA as well as hear all of the famous artists who had designed a cover over the course of CA’s history. Patrick touched a bit on the upcoming type annual that CA will be publishing, which caused a few of us in the audience to perk up with raised eyebrows. As always the SD AIGA chapter put on a great presentation at the Museum of Visual Materials, with good food from Chef Dominique’s and open discussion between a great group of area creatives.

DeVille helps local advertising students

Brad DeVille, partner at Caliber Creative, recently volunteered to help as a round table guest at this years Student Day event. This year AIGA and SDAF teamed up to offer a full day of information, inspiration, and wisdom. Every year Student Day is held to offer area college students the opportunity to talk with working professionals in hopes to gleam some knowledge from them in hopes of landing a job in the creative industry once they graduate. This year the theme was “Sync-Up” to reinforce the trend of new media and how to effectively use social media when looking for a job in the advertising industry. Overall Caliber Creative was glad to help again this year and looks forward to not only the next Student Day, but other events to better the creative landscape of the Midwest.

As a follow-up to a previous post, we’re excited to announce that Jay Tripp has finally completed his debut album. Jay and the team at Caliber Creative had a blast completing this project. Jay has been flooded with requests to buy a copy of his new disc, and we couldn’t be happier for him. Special thanks to Paul Heckel of Heckel Creative, the crew at Pulse River Studios, and most importantly Jay Tripp and his family. Team Caliber hits the links, again

August has been super busy here at the shop, but not busy enough to keep us away from a golf tournament with our friends at Beef Bucks, Inc. Last week we enjoyed another fine day of golf at the Brandon Golf Course. Generally speaking our team played fairly well, just didn’t get any breaks. Overall we had a great time on the course, we supported a great organization, and we had a FABULOUS steak dinner after the tourney. Thanks to all who were involved with this golf tourney, especially the sponsors, we’re looking forward to next year.

Last weekend the staff here at Caliber Creative was thrilled to finally get to enjoy the festivities of The Nelson Classic. Friday evening was filled with friends, family, food, live music from the Nick Rallis Band, and lots of great memories. Saturday, despite the cloudy weather was a full day on the golf course. The purpose of the event was to remember a dear friend Chad Nelson as well as help support a great charity, The Children’s Home Society. Final totals are still being calculated as far as money raised, but more importantly a lot of good people came out to support two great causes. We’re already looking forward to next year. Let’s Do This…. again.

“An Evening With the Kids”

Caliber Creative recently attended Children’s Home Society’s annual event “An Evening With the Kids.” As always, it was a great event. The convention center was filled with generous people, lots of donated gifts, and an overall warm family feeling. CHS does an excellent job not only with this event, but in their everyday efforts to help kids with residential treatment, education, emergency shelter, forensic interview & examination centers, foster care & adoption services, and relative placements. The majority of these children are victims of severe abuse or neglect, and CHS molds them into positive outgoing people that will someday lead a normal, active life. So a sincere “Thank You” from all of us Caliber Creative and we wish you nothing but the best in the future and we’re very proud to be considered friends of your family.

SDAF Golf Tourney 09

The Caliber Creative team had a respectable showing at last week’s SDAF golf tournament, along with capturing a few pin prizes. We came in 2 strokes behind the leader to take home 3rd place. Although we blame not winning on the rain delay, or more specifically the stiff drinks served to us during the rain delay, we all had a great time and enjoyed getting out on the course to enjoy the day with other supporters of SDAF. We’ll sharpen up our game, and make another run at it next year. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to playing in The Nelson Classic. Hope to see you there.
